Protect your wealth, in the same jurisdiction as your life
You already live in Panama: so anchor your wealth there too. As it builds up (savings, real estate, shares, crypto), the question becomes: how do you put it out of reach and pass it on to whoever you choose? The foundation option centralises protection and succession in the same territory as your residency, one legal framework to master.
Out of reach
Assets transferred to the foundation become legally immune from seizure 3 years after the transfer. A wall between your wealth and life's hazards: creditors, proceedings, disputes.
Passed on your way
The foundation bypasses the forced-heirship rules of your country of origin. Your beneficiaries are named in a private by-laws document, never in a public register.
You keep control
You remain Protector: veto right, Council revocation at any time. Option of a local nominee Council for total anonymity, without exposing a single relative.
The mechanism: your US LLC is owned 100 % by a Panamanian Private-Interest Foundation (Law 25 of 1995), an orphan structure that owns itself. Residency and patrimonial holding on the same territory. Execution is handled by our local partner, a specialised law firm that stays behind the scenes: your single point of contact remains Expat Group. Understand the foundation in detail (FR) →

How it works
- You book. Deposit paid online (Stripe), or free discovery call if you prefer to talk first. A welcome email arrives right away with the family file to prepare.
- Scoping call. We go through your situation (number of dependents, activity, the Friendly Nations route best suited to you), we confirm your eligibility, we frame the documents. You receive the Expat Group services contract.
- Visa file. Our Panamanian attorney builds the full Friendly Nations file (applicant + dependents). Documents apostilled in your country of origin, translated into Spanish.
- On the ground. Trip to Panama City: filing of the immigration file, bank account opening, signature of the domicile contract, LLC setup and, if the foundation tier, kick-off of the Panama foundation. Provisional residency arrives within a few months, permanent residency afterwards.
- Six months of support. We follow your settling-in (internet, healthcare system, school for the children). Your year 1 IRS filings are handled by us. You access your member area for all administrative management.
Frequently asked
Am I eligible for the Friendly Nations Visa?
The Friendly Nations Visa lists 50+ countries whose citizens can apply: United States, United Kingdom, most of the European Union, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and others. The most common route for the self-employed is an employment promise from a Panamanian partner company, which constitutes the economic-substance proof required by law. Eligibility is confirmed on the scoping call before any heavy commitment.
Is the whole family really covered?
Yes. The spouse (legally married), minor children, and adult children still in education (with proof of enrolment) are eligible as dependents. The cost per additional dependent adds to the file, but the architecture stays a single one.
0 % tax, really?
On foreign-source income, yes: Panama runs a territorial-tax regime. Income generated inside Panama (rent from a local property, services to a Panamanian client) is taxed. Revenue from your US LLC, which bills international clients, is considered foreign-source.
Why a US LLC if I live in Panama?
Because your LLC bills from the United States (robust banking, reputation, stable currency), while your Panamanian residency receives that revenue at 0 %. That combo is the whole point of the setup.
Is the deposit refundable?
Yes, until the Expat Group services contract is signed. After that signature, the deposit is earned (it funds the immigration file's kickoff). The balance of the pack is paid on a schedule agreed on the scoping call.
Can I start with the base tier and add the foundation later?
Yes. The foundation can be added later by having it buy your LLC. Moving from base to foundation tier then costs the delta between the two tiers. It is cleaner to set it up from the start, though, particularly for a Panama Pack: the LLC and the foundation are then born in the same jurisdiction as your residency.
What if the Friendly Nations file is denied?
The acceptance rate is very high when preparation is done properly (apostilled documents, translations, solid employment promise). Eligibility is confirmed on the scoping call before any heavy commitment. A denial (rare) triggers a refund of unused government fees and a switch to an alternative route (Pensionado if retired, Investor if capital is available).
Which language do you handle the setup in?
English, French or Spanish, whichever you prefer. Portuguese is planned. Louis lives in Latin America and works with clients across the Americas and Europe: serving each one in their own language is how the practice actually runs, from the discovery call to the written follow-up. The Panamanian attorney operates in Spanish; you never have to.
